Liberace – Too Much Of A Good Thing Is Wonderful

Film premiere of LIBERACE. It is Monday evening, Berlin. And it is heavily raining. But no problem at all, the red carpet has been rolled out. Big-time event, glitzy and glammy.
The large crowd of onlookers and ab fab-cum-socialite guests, too, is already awaiting eagerly the arrival of Michael Douglas and Co. in his Rolls Royce. And then, he comes. Extremely good-looking, fully-recovered, looking a picture of health, in a jovial mood, sticking his right thumb in the air and waving a magnum of Moet & Chandon to herald the start of the film extravaganza. Moreover is he looking forward to celebrating his Cannes-stunner LIBERACE with the Berlin in-crowd of more than 1.500 celebs. 9pm – the official film premiere start. Short intro of the DCM board to welcome all the guests and Michael Douglas. And now, ACTION! 
It is 11.15pm and the film is over. The audience cheers him. Clapping enthusiastically and bravoing. Celeberrimous.
Second encounter with Academy Award-winner Michael Douglas being interviewed by ZEIT Magazin editor-in-chief Christoph Amend. A wonderful idea to get to know a lot about doing the movie, filming the intimate scenes and his acting in this biopic. His chivalrous-esque way of guiding the interviewer when being asked how he gathered his gay experience. Being lost in translation… Answering in a bit coquet-esque, provocative but also heartbreakingly open-minded manner. Marvellous rejoinder to his marital hiatus – him still wearing his wedding ring. A transient break, that’s it. No reason to panic. They love each other and will live happily together till the end of their days. Period. No marital crisis, only a crisis of press.
